Iran artist couple Mehrab Qasemkhani and Shaqayeq Dehqan are set to sit on the jury panel for the stand-up comedy section of the 1st Persian Speakers in Europe Art Festival, France.
The organizers said on Wednesday that the two artists will judge various works in the stand-up comedy section, adding they will also choose a batch of comedians for further instruction and final competition in the French capital city of Paris.
The batch will be chosen among those who send their cell phone recorded videos lasting for two mins. Winner will be awarded a golden statuette and cash prize.
The debut edition of festival will be held in Paris from January 13 to 20, 2018.
Dehqan is mostly known for her roles in television comedy series such as “Pavarchin” by Mehran Modiri and ‘Medical Building’ by Sorush Sehat, in which her husband penned the screenplay.
Besides the stand-up comedy strand, the festival’s main competitive sections include categories such as Vocal, Dubbing and Hosting as well as Painting.
Different exhibitions and concerts will also be held as the festival’s side activities.
The art festival aims, among others, to promote Persian language and literature irrespective from all political and religious barriers. Afghan and Tajik nationals who speak Persian are among possible participants of the event.
